Help! a nosebleed!

Anything No Comments

When your child has a nosebleed, keep him upright, gently pinch his nose and tilt it upward for five minutes.  Keep him calm because crying increases blood flow.

If bleeding persists, put absorbent cotton on his nostrils and pinch for ten minutes more.  Apply cold compress to the nose to constrict the blood vessels.  Keep your child quiet for several hours following a nosebleed.

If nosebleeds occur frequently, consult your doctor.  If the cause of bleeding is an object pushed into the nose, try to get the child to gently blow it out.  However, if the object is firmly lodged, do not attempt to remove it yourself.  You may accidentally push the object in further.  Go to your doctor.
